Definite Don'ts for Metro Rail users in Bangalore

Metro Rail is going to roll out in Bangalore shortly. It is aptly named as Namma Metro (Our Metro). Given that Bangaloreans are very civil in their behavior, thought I could put out a list of Definite Don'ts in Namma Metro:

1.   You cannot take request stops in Namma Metro, unlike in the bus.
2.   You cannot get in and out of a running metro train. Also, you cannot travel hanging on the footboard.
3.    The trains will stop at each station for maximum of half a minute; hence please don’t block the entrance.
4.    Get off from the train only on the side which the door opens and please don’t bang on the doors to open them
5.    Ticketless travel is not possible in metro rail.
6.    Two wheelers, don’t try to climb on the metro tracks in case of traffic jam, first it is not practically not possible and most importantly, you maybe hit by an oncoming metro train, which cannot deviate from its  track, no matter how much you honk.
7.     There is no need to stop your vehicle when a metro train passes by because the trains don’t have a toilet and most importantly the tracks are concreted.

This list is not exhaustive. Have a happy, civil and safe Namma Metro usage.

  1. I want to grade your "Definite Don'ts", from 0 star to 5 star in steps of 1/2 star. You work out the simple arithmetic average.

    1. 5 star
    2. 4 1/2 star
    3. 1 1/2 star (too serious)
    4. 5 (1/2) star!
    5. 1/2 star (you do not know how resourceful Bengalureans are!)
    6. 5 (1/2) star
    7. 4 1/2 star (because it applies to road users and not the metroing public.

I expect the next instalment to be better :)))

  5. Thanks KK and Aditi, any project in Bangalore is not worth its salt, if it is not delayed by atleast 3 years, we know of a 2 km bridge which took 6 years to build, so Metro completion in Bangalore may take eternity

  6. Dos and don'ts don't work with Indians if you utter some donts it will become must dos for them. For instance in Delhi metro stations you are not supposed to spit, smoke pick someone's purse, shoot your girlfriend etc. Many metro station steps are tobacco stained and littered with cigatrette stubs. There have been several cases of purse lifting and at least two instances of guys shooting their girlfriends there.Indians embrace their donts with great enthusiasm and turn them into dos.
